Dog-Friendly Cottage in the Peak District for Couples
Finding a dog-friendly cottage in the Peak District isn’t always easy — especially if you’re looking for somewhere that feels a little luxurious and designed for a romantic escape.
At Lancaster Cottage, your dog is very welcome. With walks from the doorstep, beautiful countryside all around, and a cosy space to return to at the end of the day, it’s the perfect place to enjoy the Peak District together.
The layout, the location and the surrounding countryside all make it simple to include your dog in your stay, without compromising on comfort or atmosphere.
Walks from the Doorstep
One of the best things about staying at Lancaster Cottage is that you can head straight out for a walk without needing to get in the car.
From gentle village strolls to longer countryside walks, the Peak District is right there waiting — making it ideal for both you and your dog.
We highly recommend walking on Stanton Moor and visiting the Nine Ladies Stone Circle – this is a perfect walk with dogs as it is well drained (no mud!) and there is not usually any livestock. See Walking Britain – Stanton Moor– you can walk from Winster or drive and park there.
The Garden & Outdoor Space
The cottage garden provides a peaceful outdoor space to relax and unwind. It’s a lovely spot for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine, while your dog enjoys the fresh air after a day of exploring. Please note that the garden is offset from the cottage down a little path. It isn’t 100% secure and backs onto a field with livestock. However, the village is perfect for pootling around with your dog on traffic-free alleyways. There are also easy dog walks straight from the door, including the village orchard where there is no livestock.
Dog-Friendly Pubs & Places Nearby
Winster and the surrounding area are known for being welcoming to dogs, with all the local pubs being dog-friendly. After a day out, you can enjoy a relaxed meal or drink without needing to leave your dog behind.
