How many people does the cottage sleep?
The cottage sleeps two guests in a comfortable king-size bedroom, making it perfect for couples.
Is the cottage suitable for longer stays?
Yes — many guests stay for longer breaks. The cottage is well equipped for a relaxed, comfortable stay with everything you need to settle in.
Is Lancaster Cottage dog friendly?
Yes — dogs are very welcome. The cottage is well suited to guests who want to bring their dog and enjoy the surrounding countryside together.
How many dogs can I bring?
The cottage easily accommodates one small to medium dog. Two small dogs are also welcome. Others upon request!
Is the garden enclosed?
The garden is enclosed but it isn’t fully secure and is accessed down a little path from the cottage. It borders open countryside, often with sheep in the next field, so care needs to be taken.
Are there walks nearby for dogs?
Yes — there are footpaths from the doorstep, as well as many walking routes nearby in the Peak District.
Can dogs be left alone in the cottage?
We recommend that dogs are not left alone for long periods, to ensure they are comfortable and settled. If you know your dog barks when they are left alone, even for short periods, please do not do this.
Does the cottage have a log burner?
The cottage has a brilliant gas-fired burner – it has all the looks and feel of a log burner without the hassle and provides instant heat. Guests love it!
Is there WiFi at the cottage?
Yes – the cottage has Superfast unlimited Fibre broadband – ideal for WFH if required (let’s hope not!).
Is the kitchen fully equipped?
Yes – the kitchen is very well equipped. Everything is good quality and the knives are sharp!
Is bedding and linen provided?
Yes – good quality 100% cotton bed linen and big fluffy towels are provided.
Where is Lancaster Cottage located?
The cottage is located in the village of Winster, in the heart of the Peak District.
Are there walks from the doorstep?
Yes — one of the best things about staying here is that you can head straight out for a walk without needing to drive.
Are there pubs nearby?
Yes – there are 2 lovely pubs in the village and several others within a decent walking distance – and many more only a short drive away, including those serving excellent food.
Is the cottage in a quiet area?
Yes — Winster is a peaceful village, making it ideal for a relaxing break away from busier tourist areas. The cottage itself is located in the most peaceful area of an already peaceful place!
Is there parking at the cottage?
There is usually a parking space available by the cottage (the cottage itself is off the street). Otherwise there is plenty of free, on-street parking in the village and 2 free car parks.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check in is from 3pm unless otherwise agreed. Check out is 11am for our Direct Booking guests (or 10am for Airbnb/Booking.com guests).
Is the cottage suitable for people with limited mobility?
The cottage is a Grade II Listed Building and include uneven stairs and uneven surfaces. Please check with us if you have specific accessibility needs.
